AP sources say ICE removed thousands of detainees from online locator

Current and former officials told the AP that ICE stopped listing thousands of detainees with final removal orders in its public locator system.

The change took effect Sept. 15, according to three current and former ICE officials cited anonymously by the Associated Press. Lawyers told the news agency that clients disappeared from the system, complicating efforts by families and counsel to locate them.

ICE did not confirm or deny the change, according to the report. The agency said people with final removal orders were being prioritized for deportation while court injunctions delayed some removals.
