Australian lawmaker Helen Haines remains in critical condition after alleged targeted attack
Australian independent MP Helen Haines remained in critical condition after an alleged targeted attack in Wangaratta, Victoria, police said.
Victoria Police said Brendan Nugent was charged with causing harm to a Commonwealth public official, intentionally causing serious harm and dangerous driving causing serious harm. Authorities said the alleged attack was targeted, while its motive remained under investigation.
The Alfred hospital said Haines had lost one leg and surgeons operated to save the other.
