Cyberattack defrosts refrigerators at French supermarket chains
French supermarket chains Intermarché and Cooperative U said a cyberattack caused refrigeration systems to defrost, prompting a prosecutor's investigation.
Intermarché said an estimated 150 to 200 of its stores were affected, while Cooperative U said nearly 100 outlets were targeted. The retailers reported losses of fresh and frozen products.
The Paris prosecutor's office said it opened an investigation into the large-scale cyberattack, which it said was linked to food losses and reported fires.
