Flood deaths in Nepal and China exceed 1,000 as thousands remain missing
Authorities reported more than 1,000 deaths and over 4,400 people missing after floods struck Nepal and China, while rescue crews focused on damaged hydropower sites.
Nepal's disaster agency reported 987 deaths and 3,916 people missing, while Chinese authorities reported 16 deaths and 546 people missing in their latest update.
Rescuers were trying to reach cut-off communities and workers feared trapped at damaged hydropower sites. Nepal's prime minister said more than 11,000 people had been rescued across the affected region.
