French prosecutors investigate cyberattack on supermarket refrigeration systems
French prosecutors opened an investigation after a cyberattack disrupted refrigeration equipment at hundreds of supermarkets and spoiled food, the Guardian reported.
Hackers remotely altered temperatures in connected freezers and chillers at up to 700 French stores, according to the Guardian. Retailers reported spoiled food and some equipment damage. Investigators have not identified those responsible. Cybersecurity experts cited by the Guardian said outdated software and weak security controls may have left equipment vulnerable.
