Iran's Khamenei urges Gulf unity as Tehran maintains Hormuz restrictions
Iran's supreme leader urged Gulf governments to confront what he called their common enemy as Tehran continued to restrict traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei called on Gulf governments to identify and oppose what he described as their common adversary. His message came while Iran continued to require vessels to coordinate passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials said a temporary maritime route discussed with Oman depends on the United States meeting commitments in a lapsed June memorandum. Regional governments are continuing mediation efforts.
