Justice Department agrees to defer prosecution of former CIA analyst Sue Mi Terry

Federal prosecutors agreed to defer for a year the case accusing former CIA analyst Sue Mi Terry of acting as an unregistered agent for South Korea, according to court documents.

The Justice Department said it will dismiss the case after a year if Terry stays out of legal trouble, the Associated Press reported. The agreement came before her scheduled trial in Manhattan.

Prosecutors had alleged that Terry shared nonpublic government information and accepted gifts while advocating South Korean government positions. Terry had denied wrongdoing.
