Myanmar's military has regained strategically located towns and trade corridors as opposition forces retreat from some urban centers captured in 2023 and 2024, Al Jazeera reported. ISP-Myanmar said the military has retaken 22 of the 101 towns it lost after the 2021 coup.
Analysts cited by Al Jazeera attributed the shift partly to military conscription, air power and Chinese pressure on armed groups, while warning that the conflict remains a prolonged war of attrition.
