NASA activates Roman Space Telescope's primary camera in space
NASA said the Roman Space Telescope's 300-megapixel Wide Field Instrument is operating as expected after its first activation and commissioning tests.
NASA activated the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope's Wide Field Instrument and tested its detectors, calibration system, optics wheel and focus mechanism. The agency also completed an initial checkout of the Coronagraph Instrument and said the mission remains on track to release its first science images by early 2027.
