NASA completes new Deep Space Network antenna in California
NASA announced the completion of Deep Space Station 23, a 34-meter antenna added to the Deep Space Network complex near Barstow, California.
NASA said Deep Space Station 23 is the latest of six new antennas planned under a network expansion project that began in 2009. The agency held a ribbon-cutting at the Goldstone complex on August 25.
The multifrequency antenna will support communications with distant spacecraft by transmitting commands and receiving mission data.
