NASA launches citizen-science project to identify artifacts in telescope data
NASA announced Artifact InSPECtor, a project in which volunteers classify false signals in Euclid data to help improve AI tools used by astronomers.
NASA announced that Artifact InSPECtor is open to volunteers using phones, tablets or computers. Participants learn to recognize artifacts in observations from the Euclid space telescope, and their classifications will help refine instructions for an AI tool.
NASA said the project plans to add data from the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in early 2027.
