NASA plans low-altitude FarmFlux research flights over Texas farmland

NASA said it will fly a research aircraft over farmland near Transit, Texas, from Oct. 22 to Nov. 9 to measure emissions from animal feeding operations.

NASA said its FarmFlux mission will use more than a dozen sensors aboard a Dynamic Aviation A200 aircraft to measure gases and particles from crop lands and livestock farms near Transit, Texas.

The agency said the flights are scheduled from Oct. 22 through Nov. 9, with additional research flights planned in the Midwest and California's Central Valley during the 2027 growing season.
