National Science Foundation announces portfolio-based grant strategy
The National Science Foundation said it will combine investigator-led grants with agency-directed programs centered on four interdisciplinary research priorities.
An agency letter released September 10 says grant solicitations will be consolidated as the NSF adopts a portfolio approach spanning researcher-proposed work and agency-defined opportunities.
The four cross-agency initiatives cover intelligence, quantum phenomena, advanced materials and biological design. The letter did not specify their budgets or how they would be financed.
