Nepal-Tibet flood death toll reaches 797 as Nepal begins temporary mass burials

The reported death toll from flooding in Nepal and Tibet reached 797 on Sunday as overwhelmed morgues in Nepal began temporary mass burials.

The Guardian reported that hundreds of bodies have been recovered after flash floods and mudslides struck Himalayan valleys in Nepal and Tibet. Nepalese authorities said morgues were overwhelmed, while more than 3,000 people remained reported missing across the two areas.

Residents returning to Devighat found homes destroyed, and rescuers urged people toward higher ground when the Trishuli River rose again Sunday.
