New York prosecutors seek to continue Luigi Mangione murder case
Manhattan prosecutors argued that Luigi Mangione's federal guilty plea should not end the separate New York state case over the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
In a court filing, Manhattan prosecutors said the state and federal cases involve different charges and legal purposes. Mangione's lawyers have argued that the state prosecution should be dismissed on double-jeopardy grounds.
A ruling is expected later this fall, according to the Associated Press.
