Thirty additional lawsuits filed in California accuse OpenAI of contributing to the February school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. The new plaintiffs include students, teachers and a principal who were present during the attack but were not shot.
The complaints add an aiding-and-abetting claim and allege that OpenAI failed to alert police about the attacker’s ChatGPT activity. TechCrunch said the filings offered no direct evidence for a claim involving executive Chris Lehane, and OpenAI denied that he was involved.
