OpenAI says Astra crossed its critical cybersecurity capability threshold

OpenAI said Astra can autonomously identify and exploit previously unknown vulnerabilities across protected systems, making it the first company model to reach the critical threshold in its Preparedness Framework.

The company said it delayed parts of development and release to strengthen safeguards. OpenAI plans to release the model soon while limiting its most advanced cybersecurity functions to selected testers.
