Report examines Paxtons’ $600,000 investment in company run by convicted fraudster
ProPublica and The Texas Tribune reported that Ken and Angela Paxton’s blind trust invested $600,000 in a business run by a man convicted of mortgage fraud.
ProPublica and The Texas Tribune reported that records from Ken Paxton’s 2023 impeachment investigation show the Paxtons’ blind trust invested in Wildcatter Sand Services, a company associated with Scott Sherman, who previously served a federal prison sentence for mortgage fraud.
The news organizations reported that the records also document payments from Wildcatter companies to the trust and that Ken Paxton did not answer detailed questions about the investment or his knowledge of Sherman’s conviction.
