Russia holds final day of first parliamentary election since full-scale Ukraine invasion
Russia concluded voting in a tightly controlled parliamentary election that included occupied Ukrainian regions and was expected to preserve Kremlin dominance.
Russia held the final day of its first parliamentary election since the 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with United Russia widely expected to retain control of the State Duma. Genuine opposition was largely absent after anti-war candidates and parties were removed or sidelined.
Voting also took place in Russian-held parts of four Ukrainian regions and in annexed Crimea. Ukraine condemned that voting as illegal, while opposition parties reported irregularities that could not be independently verified.
