Science Corporation says it implanted its retinal chip in a first Stargardt disease patient
Science Corporation said its PRIMA retinal implant was placed in its first Stargardt disease patient during an ongoing trial in Australia.
Science Corporation said the patient received the PRIMA implant in May at Sydney Eye Hospital as part of an ongoing trial for Stargardt disease. The company said the patient identified a letter in a first rehabilitation session and read a word in a second session.
The company said PRIMA is already commercially available in Europe for some patients with geographic atrophy, a different cause of vision loss.
