Syria and Libya agree to restore diplomatic missions after 14-year closure
Syria and Libya's Tripoli-based government agreed to reopen Syria's embassy in Tripoli and establish a Syrian consulate in Benghazi.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah agreed to restore diplomatic representation during talks in Tripoli. Syria's embassy there has been closed since 2012.
The two governments also reactivated a bilateral cooperation committee and discussed security, consular services, energy and investment, according to Libya's Government of National Unity.
