Trump announces Pentagon-backed venture for Venezuelan oil fields

President Donald Trump announced an agreement under which the Pentagon would invest in a private venture with exclusive rights to develop 17 Venezuelan oil fields. PBS reported that the Pentagon would receive more than half the venture's value.

The full terms remain unclear, and the report said the agreement's legality under Venezuelan law is uncertain. Venezuela's interim president described it as beneficial to both sides.
