UN report says global warming will reach at least 1.8C under its most optimistic pathway
A UN Environment Programme report says the 1.5C warming threshold will be exceeded and projects at least 1.8C of warming even under its most optimistic pathway.
The UN Environment Programme said exceeding the Paris Agreement’s 1.5C limit is now unavoidable and could occur within the next few years. Its report calls for sustained emissions cuts and carbon removal to limit the duration and severity of the overshoot.
