Venezuela's interim president outlines 25-year oil project with the United States

Interim President Delcy Rodríguez said a 25-year Venezuela-U.S. project would develop 17 oilfields and target production above 1.5 million barrels a day.

Rodríguez said Venezuela would retain ownership of its resources while the United States supplied capital and technology. She said Venezuela would receive $19 for each barrel produced and sold to the U.S., based on a benchmark price that could change with global markets.

President Donald Trump described the arrangement as giving the United States majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan reserves.
